White dwarf codex - First thoughts and impressions

So... I've had plenty of time to read the white dwarf codex for the sister of battle that came out with the August issue.

Obviously it was only the first part and the second one is to be released in September. I was hoping for a more meaningful released considering my birthday is in September and I was planning on spoiling myself, but it will have to wait longer it appears.

I really enjoy the fluff on the order of the bloody rose. I especially like how they are an order focused on getting up close and personal, but was never able to really make this work with the current Witchhunter codex. Sure you could take Eviscerator on every squad leaders if you want, but they were grossly overpriced on top of the leader point cost so it always felt like you were crippling yourself.

With that in mind, I am hoping that the next part, with the armory, will have some adjusted combos and allow for some interesting close combat builds that don't necessarily involve the battle conclave (new unit in the August white dwarf).

I am so hoping that Celestians are no longer Elite, but a close combat oriented troop choice and that we can select for them more than a single eviscerator or power sword. With their current potential of stacking their act of faith (which grants +1 strength and fearless on a success), they could easily get to devastating levels.

I have been disappointed by what I've seen in a few other units, notably the Canonness who doesnt look like the inspiring battle figure that she was in her previous incarnation, but I will wait before I pass a full judgement. Her armory and point cost may yet redeem the loss of all the acts of faith she had access to and how easily she could use them
